Yorkshire Junior Olivia Brodie

Records first eagle for a junior at Cookridge Hall

Olivia Brodie from Cookridge holes an eagle
Most of you will know that the 2nd hole at Cookridge Hall is the toughest hole on the Course. It is an up-hill dogleg of nearly 400 yards. Just in case it was too easy a ditch has recently been dug all the way across the fairway for drainage purposes.
Step up 14-year-old Olivia Brodie. Olivia can hit a golf ball. On several occasions she has hit her first tee shot into the lake by the first green. On this occasion she excelled herself. On the second she teed off with a three-wood to avoid putting her tee shot on the Driving Range, so her tee shot only went 230 yards. Olivia's ball landed on the fairway just past the tree, she then hit her utility club 163 yards into the centre of the green. She and her playing partners looked for the ball for a while until someone looked in the hole and there was the ball nestling nicely in the bottom.

Olivia ran across the course to tell her dad before running back to carry on her round. As she was off 20.5 handicap so she received two shots on the second hole. We were playing a Stableford competition, therefore, her eagle brought her 6 points on the one hole. This is also, as far as I can remember, the first time a junior has eagled the 2nd
