County Captain's Message
Spring is finally here and with it the new golfing season. I hope you’ve all enjoyed some winter coaching to get you ready for the upcoming club qualifying competitions and wish you all good fortune for the year ahead.
With regard to coaching, the Yorkshire players of all ages and experience have enjoyed a variety of sessions over the last few months in readiness for their season ahead.
The Junior Competitions have already begun with the Foursomes at Hull GC, won by newcomers Poppy and Jessie Lane from Waterfront and the Junior Girls team had a convincing win in their first match against the Yorkshire Boys 4-1.
Many of you participate in the yearly Inter Club competitions which culminate in thrilling finals in the summer which I am looking forward to attending. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Inter Club Secretary (lindabemrose@googlemail.com) should you have any questions or feedback about this event. And, if your club hasn’t entered this competition before, consider giving it a go next year as there’s bound to be a team category to suit your players. Have a look on the website or in the Handbook for further information.
My thanks go to the many of you who have taken the time to attend the excellent WHS Workshops held throughout the county which has generated lots of positive feedback.
We hope you found them useful, informative and enjoyable.
Lastly, a plea for help … we’re looking for a Treasurer, Junior Organiser, Junior Training Officer and a new Secretary from November. If you have enthusiasm along with some time to spare and would like to volunteer to help us to continue to offer great golf to the women of Yorkshire, please get in touch with Lesly (leslyford@hotmail.com) who can give you lots of information on working within our friendly team. Your county definitely needs you, along with your enthusiasm, to join us!
